The rectangular bridge with the carved "diamonds" on the ends, the 12-fret-to-the body neck and the slotted peghead indicate that this guitar was inspired by American early-20th century gut-string guitars made in the "Spanish style" that were later converted to steel,. In this configuration they became favorites among finger-pickers and  singer-song-writers. The combination of the short scale, the centrally-located bridge and the curly-koa result in a surprisingly responsive guitar with a smooth sound that seems to jump out of the guitar with the lightest touch of the strings.

Yellowheart
14-fret grand concert
sweet scale

Pau Amarello ("Yellowheart") is an stunning exotic tropical timber displaying a both outstanding resonance and uniformity of texture, which to my knowledge has not previously been used for guitarmaking. It's density, stiffness and texture is nonetheless technically ideal for the purpose.

A full-bodied, well balanced sound is the result and a striking visual appearance you're not likely to see anywhere else.

A smaller cutaway cousin to wrc227 above, from adjacent rosewood slices from the same flitch; a slightly wider neck makes it nice for fine fingerpicking.

Stark-looking, uniform, magnificently hard, black-brown Brazilian ebony (Swartzia tomentosa) lends a glassy clarity to a familiar guitar configuration; wider spacing at bridge is ideal for larger hands.

This is an outstandingly elegant, brilliant and loud guitar, ideal for voice accompaniment and balladeering. It's smaller size (the size of a classic guitar) makes it ideally suited for compact-size players. The East Indian rosewood is picture-perfect as is the pure-white Englemann spruce soundboard.
